Jubilee, unused food from Tor Vergata redistributed to the poor
After the Holy Year gathering of young people at Tor Vergata in Rome, there was a concrete gesture against the throwaway culture. Following the Youth Jubilee, thanks to the efforts of the Dicastery for Evangelization, the food items in lunch boxes, which were left unused during the events, were used as a sign of solidarity towards those most in need.
The food has already been delivered to volunteers from the Diocesan Caritas of Rome, who are currently distributing fresh sandwiches and panini in their the Solidarity Stores, the soup kitchens of the Community of Sant'Egidio, the Sisters of Mother Teresa, and various other charitable organizations and associations. In the coming weeks, long-life foods, such as canned goods, snacks, and fruit juices, will also be delivered to support the most vulnerable families. Uncollected breakfasts will also be delivered to parishes and family homes in the diocese
