San Paolo alla Regola

An ancient tradition identifies the foundation of the church as being in the same location where the Apostle Paul lived in Rome. It was firstly transformed into an oratory, then into a church during the fourth century. It was only in 1594 that the church was entrusted to the care of the Discalced Augustinians, but in 1619 it was handed over to the Sicilian province of the Third Order Regular of St Francis, who instituted a “Collegium Siculum”.

Thanks to a concession from the Vicariate of Rome who allowed the Sunday liturgy to be celebrated inside this sacred space, since 2014 this church has been a point of reference for the Bulgarian Orthodox Community.
