Youth Jubilee: Changes to Holy Doors Access Times

During the Youth Jubilee, all groups who wish will have the opportunity to pass through the Holy Doors of the Papal Basilicas without advance reservation. Given the expected high turnout, pilgrims are encouraged to approach the Holy Doors with patience and a welcoming spirit, and to be prepared to face lengthy queues and waiting times. Access to the Holy Doors will be possible from 8:00 am.

 

To pass through the Holy Door of St. Peter's, please go to Piazza Pia, where volunteers will welcome pilgrims and groups and lead them on a guided pilgrimage to the Door.

Please note the following extraordinary closure times for St. Peter's Basilica and the Holy Door during the Youth Jubilee:

- July 29, 2025, from 1:30 pm  (last pilgrimage from Piazza Pia at 1:00 pm)

- July 30, 2025, from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm (approximate time based on the running time of the Papal Audience)

- July 31, 2025, from 12:30 pm (last pilgrimage from Piazza Pia at 12:00 noon)

- August 1, 2025, from 1:30 pm (last pilgrimage from Piazza Pia at 1:00 pm)

 

On July 30, 2025, the Holy Door of the Basilica of St. John Lateran will be open to all pilgrim groups from the French Episcopal Conference; consequently, a significant increase in attendance and possible congestion is expected. Those wishing to visit the Basilica are kindly asked to allow for possible increased waiting times.
