Poisson: “If we lose hope, we lose the war against war”

Bishop Raymond Poisson of Saint-Jérôme-Mont-Laurier who was appointed to his diocese on 1 June 2022, has been President of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of Canada since September 2021.

We asked him about the value of Hope, the central theme of the next Jubilee and its particular relevance during this delicate moment of conflict and suffering.

“Hope… If we lose hope, we lose the war, in other words we lose the war against war. As far as I’m concerned, there are seeds of hope [in all of us].

“I am sure that even among those who are suffering most, certain gestures of love and humanitarian aid leave in their hearts the hope that the conflict will end.

“This is what everyone wants, regardless of the presumed sensitivities of individual countries, states and the world of politics."
