6,000 gather in Rome for the Jubilee of Seminarians, Bishops and Priests

From 23 to 27 June 2025, three Jubilee events dedicated to seminarians, bishops, and priests from all over the world will be held in Rome, involving over 6,000 people.

The seminarians will be welcomed at a special event on Monday 23 June, at 5:00 pm in the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls. Participants will firstly take part in a prayer service with the communal recitation of the Rosary, and then attend a concert given by the Choir of the Diocese of Rome with the Orchestra “Fideles et amati”, directed by Monsignor Marco Frisina. The music chosen is themed on the topic of vocation and will come from Monsignor Frisina’s huge musical repertoire.

The Jubilee dedicated specifically to seminarians will continue on June 24 from 8:00 am with the pilgrimage to the Holy Door of St. Peter's and, at 11:00 am, they will gather in the Basilica for the catechesis of the Holy Father Pope Leo XIV, who will meet the seminarians of the world for the first time. At 6:00 pm the Jubilee will conclude with Masses, in language groups, in ten churches in the center of Rome, presided over by the Bishops, and open to all who may wish to attend.

On June 25, in the morning, the Jubilee dedicated to Bishops will be begin, with prelates from over 50 countries taking part, including Italy, Spain, Poland, Portugal, Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, United States, and the Philippines. The participants will gather at 9:30 am on Wednesday morning in the Braccio di Costantino, where they will be given a stole, a chasuble and a mitre for the Holy Year, and at 10:00 am they will begin their Pilgrimage to the Holy Door of St. Peter. Once inside the Basilica, at 10:30 am, they will concelebrate Mass, presided over by the Prefect Emeritus of the Dicastery for Bishops, His Eminence, Cardinal Ouellet, at the Altar of the Chair. Afterwards, at 12:30 pm, still in the Basilica, the Holy Father will give his catechesis to the bishops and, then, together with them, he will make the Profession of Faith at the tomb of St. Peter. The bishops will then conclude their Jubilee with a lunch together in the courtyard of the Pontifical Roman Major Seminary.

Also on June 25, the Jubilee of Priests will begin with catecheses held by bishops in 12 churches in the center of Rome, in different language groups. The following day, June 26, the participants will take part in a Mass presided over by the Prefect of the Dicastery for the Clergy, His Eminence Cardinal Lazzaro You, in St. Peter's Basilica. Afterwards, the priests will be able to make their Jubilee pilgrimage through the Holy Doors of the Papal Basilicas from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. They will then gather together once more at 7.00 pm inside St. Peter's Basilica, for a Prayer Vigil, which will include the testimonies of a seminarian, a bishop, and a priest from different parts of the world, presided over by the Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, Archbishop Rino Fisichella.

The Jubilee event will conclude on Friday, June 27 with the Solemn Mass of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, presided over by the Holy Father in St. Peter's Basilica. During Mass, which is open to all, Pope Leo XIV will ordain 31 new priests from different parts of the world, including Italy, India, Sri Lanka, Romania, Central African Republic, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Cameroon, Angola, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Ghana, Nigeria, Korea, Mexico, Uganda, Australia, Mexico, Kenya, Brazil, Croatia, Slovakia, and Ukraine.
