St. Peter's Square prepares to host 100,000 young people for the Welcome Mass of the Youth Jubilee.

29 July 2025

Beginning at 6:00 pm tonight, St. Peter's Square will welcome over 100,000 young pilgrims from all over the world for the Opening Mass of the Youth Jubilee, the most anticipated event of the Holy Year. The Mass itself begins at 7:00 pm.

The celebration will be presided over by His Excellency Archbishop Rino Fisichella, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization who has been responsible for organizing the 2025 Jubilee, with 1,500 concelebrants and 450 extraordinary ministers of Communion expected to assist.

To allow maximum participation - even for those unable to find a place in St. Peter's Square - large screens will be set up along Via della Conciliazione, offering the opportunity to follow the entire celebration live.

The Mass is the first major event of this Jubilee, which will see the gradual arrival of hundreds of thousands of other young people in the coming days, making Rome the spiritual center of an experience of faith, brotherhood, and hope that will continue throughout the week.

It will be an evening of celebration and prayer to mark the official beginning of the Youth Jubilee.
