Youth Jubilee, one of the most keenly anticipated events of the Holy Year in Rome runs from July 28 to August 3
From Monday July 28, to Sunday August 3, 2025, the Jubilee of Young People will be celebrated in Rome. It is the most keenly anticipated and well attended major event of the Holy Year 2025, with hundreds of thousands of young people arriving in Rome from 146 countries. It is expected that approximately a million pilgrims will attend the Prayer Vigil with Pope Leo XIV at Tor Vergata on Saturday August 2. This number will increase for the Papal Mass on Sunday August 3 at 9 am.
Monday, July 28, will see the arrival of the young pilgrims at the reception facilities set up in Rome and the Lazio Region by the Dicastery for Evangelization, in collaboration with the Office of the Extraordinary Government Commissioner, the National Civil Protection Department, the Prefecture and Police, the Vicariate of Rome, and the Dioceses of Lazio. Approximately 370 parishes, 400 schools, 40 extracurricular sites including Civil Protection Centers, sports halls, and municipal gyms have been made available for the arrivals, as well as numerous families who will host the young pilgrims.
Fiera Roma will host 25,000 young people, offering its spaces to ensure a safe and comfortable welcome. Thanks to the operational support of the National Department of Civil Protection, the facility will become a "city within a city," with 24-hour medical facilities and services. This demonstrates the concerted effort that has been made to offer young pilgrims not just a place to sleep, but a real community experience in complete safety.
The Dialogues with the City events, (artistic and cultural events being held across the city), will begin on Tuesday, July 29th, starting at 9am. The detailed program can be found at the following link: https://www.iubilaeum2025.va/en/pellegrinaggio/calendario-giubileo/GrandiEventi/Giubileo-dei-Giovani/dialogo-29-luglio.html
At 7 pm, the Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, His Excellency Archbishop Rino Fisichella, will preside over the Welcome Mass in St. Peter's Square. All Jubilee participants are invited to attend.
On Wednesday, July 30th and Thursday, July 31st, other artistic, cultural, and spiritual events will take place in the context of the Dialogues with the City, starting at 10:30 am and lasting until 6 pm. In total, more than 70 Dialogues with the City are scheduled during the Youth Jubilee Week, organized by more than 30 organizations, institutions, and associations.
On Friday August 1st, concurrent with the Dialogues with the City events, a Penitential Day will be held at 10:30 am at the Circus Maximus in preparation for the Vigil with the Holy Father. Over 1,000 priests have made themselves available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, in ten different languages.
On Saturday August 2nd, the gates to the large area set up at Tor Vergata will open at 9 am. From 2 pm to 8 pm, there will be on-stage entertainment with music and testimonies, hosted by Rudy Zerbi, Lorena Bianchetti and Paola Arriaza Avilés, Luigi Santarelli and Wallace Freitas, Victor Hernandez and Fabyola Inzunza. Guests taking to the stage include the world-renowned Italian singing trio Il Volo, Sergio Bernal, and Matt Maher; the Christian bands The Sun and Reale; Thiago Brado; Missionario Shalom; and the Hakuna Group Music choir, founded during World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro in 2013. The Diocesan Choir of Rome, directed by Monsignor Marco Frisina, with approximately 450 members including the choir and orchestra, will sing at the Holy Father's arrival and the Vigil.
At 8:30 pm the Prayer Vigil with the Holy Father will begin, during which three young people will ask Pope Leo XIV questions on the themes of friendship, courage, and spirituality. At the end of the Vigil, the young people present will prepare for their overnight stay, with tents and sleeping bags. At 9 am on Sunday August 3, Pope Leo will celebrate the concluding Mass, also at Tor Vergata.
