“Harmonies of Hope”, the 2024 concert season ahead of the Jubilee

07 April 2024

After the first concert last November 26, 2023 at the Auditorium della Conciliazione, played by the "Virtuosi di Kiev" who performed the New World Symphony by Antonin Dvorak, on Sunday 28 April, at 5.30 pm at the Church of Sant'Ignazio in Rome, the famous Messiah by G.F. Handel will be performed in its entirety.

For the second concert of the season in preparation for the Jubilee, this work which is well-known but not always played in full, was chosen. It was composed by the German musician in 1741. A timeless masterpiece it will be performed by the Florentine ensemble, the "Musici del Gran Principe" conducted by the young Maestro Samuele Lastrucci.

The next concert scheduled for 2024 will be held on November 3, at 6 pm at the Auditorium della Conciliazione, and will feature the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. The Orchestra, directed by Maestro Jader Bignamini, currently Musical Director of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, will perform Dimitri Shostakovich's Fifth Symphony composed in 1937, little known to the general public, but striking for its intense drama.

The third appointment will be held shortly before the opening of the Holy Door. At 6.00 pm on December 22, 2024, at the Church of Sant'Ignazio, the Pontifical Sistine Chapel Choir will perform various polyphonic compositions by Palestrina, Perosi and Bartolucci. The Choir, under the direction of Maestro Marcos Pavan, will help those who participate to live the days immediately before the opening of the Jubilee with a spirit of genuine contemplation of the mystery of faith.
