Yesterday was the opening night of the film festival being held in preparation for the Jubilee

The “Faces and Counterfaces of Hope” film festival opened yesterday in preparation for the 2025 Jubilee, organized by the Dicastery for Evangelization. The restored version of the film “La porta del Cielo”, by Vittorio De Sica and Cesare Zavattini (1945), was screened at the Cinema delle Provincie in Rome. The first speaker was the Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery, Archbishop Rino Fisichella, followed by Monsignor Dario Viganò, one of the organizers of the Festival.

Today the festival continues at 5pm with the screening of “One Life” by James Hawes, which had its cinema release in December 2023. The film will be presented by film critic Lorenzo Ciofani. Then, at 9 pm, there will be a screening of the film “The Concert”, by Radu Mihaileanu. The director, together with the critic Federico Pontiggia, will speak before the screening to present the film.
