Belgium - San Giuliano dei Fiamminghi

This is the national church of the Belgians. In the eleventh century, the Flemish community residing in Rome built a hospice and chapel dedicated to their patron saint, in order to welcome the pilgrims and other visitors from their home nation who passed through the city of Rome.

The church was initially under the care of the Netherlands, before passing subsequently to Belgium.  The complex today is administered by the Stichting Sint-Juliaan foundation, a Belgian lay foundation which is the successor body of the ancient confraternity.
