Jubilee of Confraternities

Grand Procession

17 May 2025 – 2:00 p.m.

On the occasion of the Jubilee of the Confraternities, the Dicastery for Evangelization has organized a Grand Procession representing these expressions of popular faith rooted in Italy, Europe, and throughout the world.

Given the high number of confraternities that have expressed the desire to participate, it has been necessary to organize the procession along two routes, which will also “meet” symbolically at the Circo Massimo.

The first procession will depart froma Piazza Celimontana at 2:00 p.m. and will follow the route: Via Claudia – Via Celio Vibenna – Via di S. Gregorio – Piazza di Porta Capena – Viale Aventino – Via del Circo Massimo – Via dell’Ara Massima di Ercole – Via dei Cerchi and, turning again to Via di S. Gregorio – Via Celio Vibenna, will return to the starting point at Via Claudia. The following confraternities coming from Portugal, Spain, Italy, and France, will participate in this section of the procession:

1.       Real e Venerável Irmandade do Santíssimo Sacramento de Mafra (Portugal);
2.       Arciconfraternita Vaticana di Sant’Anna de’ Parafrenieri (Italy);
3.       Cofradía del Dulce Nombre de Jesus Nazareno de León (Spain);
4.       Priorato Ligure delle Confraternite (Italy);
5.       Archiconfrérie de la Sanch de Perpignan (France);
6.       Confraternita Maria SS. Addolorata di Enna (Italy);
7.       Pontificia, Real e Ilustre Hermandad y Cofradía de Nazarenos del Santísimo Cristo de la Expiración y Nuestra Madre y Señora del Patrocinio en su dolor y gloria di Sevilla (Spain);
8.       Pontificia y Real Archicofradía del Dulce Nombre de Jesús Nazareno del Paso y María Santísima de la Esperanza di Malaga (Spain).

The second section will gather at Largo Cavalieri di Colombo and, departing around the same time (2:00 p.m.), will follow Viale delle Terme di Caracalla – Viale Aventino – Via del Circo Massimo e Via dell’Ara Massima di Ercole, concluding inside the Circo Massimo, from where the confreres will be able to witness the passing of the first section.

All the faithful who wish to witness the solemn passage of this procession may freely attend from the designated areas left open to ensure visibility along the route: Via Celio Vibenna – Via di S. Gregorio – Piazza di Porta Capena – Viale Aventino – Via del Circo Massimo – Via dell’Ara Massima di Ercole e Via dei Cerchi.

Please note that due to the high number of registered participants, registrations have been closed. However, it will still be possible to watch the procession from the sides left open to ensure visibility along the route.
